NSC MEETING
Item 3 of the agenda NSC 138 was thoroughly discussed
and adopted without objection. All the amendments proposed
by the Senior Staff to the original paper were adopted.
I raised, as requested, the question relating to
Paragraph 18 of the Staff Report on the Eerlin stock-
pile situation and an analysis of airlift capabilities.
The President was also interested in this question.
General Twining and Mr. Lovett conceded that the
language gave an erroneous impression. The fact of
the matter is, as reported by them, that an initial strike
would not be delayed but that the development of the full
potential of the blows would be delayed by seven days.
Mr. Lovett indicated that perhaps this could be avoided
by the use of alternative aircraft. He has this under con-
sideration at the present time.
No other matters came before the NSC other than the
usunl report on the situation in Korea.
