MEMORANDUM OF MERTING WITH PRESIDENT ON JUNE 12, 1952 AND ACTIONS TAKEN AT CABINET MEETING JUNE 13, 1952 Iten No. 1 The Russell Letter on Korea Supplementary to what was reported yesterday, at the Cabinet this morning I took up the alternative procedures of direct approach to the five countries or indirect appreach through Trygve Lie. Mr. Foster for the Defense Department had, prior to the Cabinet meeting, approved and expressed his preference for the direct approach. The President directed that ve proceed in this way in accordance with the draft; that is, meking the direct approach to the five countries, as indicated, and suggesting to them that it may be appropriate that UNC suggest to SYG of UN that he make the fornal request.
