THE INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCED STUDY PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR 28 February 1955 Dear Miss Evans: We have sent you today, by registered mail, two packages. One contains the seven tapes of the March, 1954 session, and the other has the originals and carbons of the transcript of that session. The second package also has one batch of the missing carbons from the session of December, 1953--Reel 1, track 1. The other missing ones--Reel 1, track 2 and pages 1-12 of Reel 2, track 1--have not showed up, and it seems almost certain that they must have been thrown out with the trash from the Oppenheimer's house. This, at long last, clears up our transcribing job, and leaves us with no tapes, and no transcripts. Dr. Oppenheimer has today written to Mr. Acheson, and you will probably get that letter in the same mail. With best greetings, S. THOMAS Sincerely yours, ARCHATIONAL DINATIONAL Amp us SERVICE Verna Hobson (Mrs. Wilder Hobson) Secretary to the Director Miss Barbara Evans Covington and Burling Union Trust Building Washington 5, D.
