On December 19th the Defense Dept. announced that

cooperation among the armed forces concerned and

common defense of the Parties. 11

that these resources, including US military as-
sistance, will be used with maximum efficiency
and will not be used to develop separate and un-
related defenses. "
Bila teral agreements
Also on the 27th the US signed bilateral agreements
signed
with eight North Atlantic Treaty countries that
had requested military aid.
On March 8th the first shipments of US military
aid to the other Treaty countries were loaded
aboard a French carrier at Norfolk.
