Well, he said that it did. So we ended up that meeting on the 19th. on
the 21st, I went off to Canada and stayed in Canada until the 22nd on a
state visit. They had asked me to came up before I left office and speak
and do various things there. I thought it was very nice of them, and I
want ed to do it and did it. That was over a weekend. I left on a Friday
morning, soent Friday and Saturday there and came back Sunday morning.
When I got back I was greeted by the New York Timés, which had streamer
headlines across the Sunday edition saying that there was a break between
the British and ourselves, and a really first-class row was in operation.
