JOHN R. STEELMAN CONSULTANT ALBEE BUILDING TELEPHONE 15TH AND G STREETS, N. W. METROPOLITAN 8-3800 WASHINGTON 5, D. C. August 27, 1954 Mr. Dave Stowe 1028 Connecticut Avenue Washington 6, D. C. Dear Dave: Here is the material from Harold Enarson. After asking if you had a copy, I recalled that Harold had spoken to me about this matter quite some time ago and had stated he would send me a copy when he finished it in the hope that you and I might jointly give him some corrections, advice, etc. I don't know how many people he may be checking with but I think perhaps you and I, and Art Goldberg are about the only ones here. You will see that he has missed many things but I don't know whether we want to bother to re-write the article for him - I doubt it. If you see any particular error that ought to be brought to his attention, I think we should do that. On page 29 he refers to Secretary Lovett in a way that is O. K. by me but I don't think it is all the truth. You recall that we got the Secretary to come over and meet with both sides and tell them how serious the situation was. When they paid little or no attention to him, he then I think it was one or two days later had the press conference to which Harold refers. Maybe a sentence or two ought to be inserted in this paragraph 29. Anyway, please look it over when you have an opportunity, and give me a ring. I hope we can get together for lunch soon to discuss other matters as well. Sincerely, Tx
