THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON May 7, 1946 Dear Edgar: I appreciated your note of April twenty-fourth very much and, as you say, I am having plenty of troubles on this sixty-second birthday of mine, but they are hardly enough to get me down - most of them are inherited and have to be met as conditions come along. I don't think this country is ready to fold up yet and as Churchill said about Great Britain - I am not going to do any of the folding. Wish I could spend a few days at home and associate with some of the boys as in days gone by, but it looks as if that is only a wish and will not materialize very soon. Remember me to all of them and tell them they had better whet up their knives because, when I do get home, they are going to need them. Sincerely yours, Honorable Edgar G. Hinde thing United States Post Office Independence, Missouri
