WASHINGTON
February 18, 1950
Dear Edgar:
I certainly appreciated your good letter of the
fifteenth and I think you have the situation
pretty well diagnosed.
It is my opinion that the site that is most con-
venient for the public is the one that should be
selected for the new Post Office. I have always
thought it would be a fine thing if they would con-
demn the block where the Post Office is and then
build a new Post Office Building that would co-
incide with the present one and make the present
one the headquarters for those Federal Agencies
in Eastern Jackson County. Of course, I wasn't
consulted on the subject and I don't expect to be.
I saw John Thice and Renick Jones at the dinner
and the reception. Bill Sermon was at the dinner
but he didn't come to the reception for some reason
or other.
I hope to see you one of these days.
Sincerely yours,
Herry
