Dear Edgar:
I appreciated very much your good letter of the twenty-
sixth and I sincerely wish I could have been with you
Monday night, as you suggested. Of course, that was
not possible.
I am glad John is getting along all right and that he likes
his assignment. I know he will do a good job.
I read the letter which you enclosed from the California
man with a lot of interest. I don't think Aunt Ella was
ever in Lamar and I don't suppose there is anybody alive
now who could remember the incident to which he refers.
I have a first cousin, Mrs. Grace Summer, who lives in
Dallas. She might be able to remember something about
it because she was there nearly the whole time that we
lived in Lamar. She was about twelve years old when we
left there - she went to Texas with her father and the rest
of the family moved up to Cass County. She is the only one
I can think of who would know anything about the matter to
which the gentleman refers. I'll send her the letter which
you sent me and find out whether she knows anything about
it or not.
Sincerely yours
Honorable Edgar G. Hinde
