I am pleased to have this opportunity of expressing bei : wishes
to the American Association for Health, Pnysical Education and Recreation
upon the occasio. of its anuiual convention at Los An reles, California.
The coordination of your convention with that of the California Association
of School Administrators should provide an exce.llent opportunity for
the interchange of points of view regarding problems of mutual interest
and should lead the way for si lilar joint meetin : by other ;roups in
education.
Tne Office of Education is nappy to support all professional
undertakings that have the worthy objective of improving and extending
the broad developmental programs of health educatio., physical education
and recreation in the schools of America. Of extreme importance in.
times of peace, these programs are imperative in an emergency of the
kind we are now facin; and may continue to face for many years to come.
*By Earl James NcGrath; U. S. Commissioner of Education, Federal
Security Agency, Washington, D. C., to the American Association for
Health, Physical Education and Recreation February 6, 1952, to be published
