A deserter from the 20th Infantry Regiment, 5th Division, confirms the presence of elements of this division opposite that part of our front formerly held by the 28th Reserve Division. According to statements of this deserter the line is very thinly held from GRIMACOURT to our lines, with only an occasional 'post of two men, C NATIONAL ARCHIVES AND IV. ENEMY INFANTRY Very quiet, except for normal machine gun fire. to SERVICE' V. ENEMY ARTILLERY. s/s BOUEE. Between 11:00h and 13:00h, 13 Cal. 150, fell in the vicinity of P.C. BOUEE and 20 Cal. 77, objective unknown. s/s DERAMEE. 99 Cal. 77 and 45 Cal. 105 on back areas of sector between 8:00h and 15:00h. s/s TAVANNES. 100 Cal. 105 on MOULAINVILLE and MOULAINVILLE la BOSSE EIX Road, 50 Cal. 105 on DAMLOUP, and 438 Cal. 105 and 150 EXX, on Fort de VAUX, Fort de BOUVILLE, Fort TAVANNES and VERDUN. Ten percent of the shells on s/s were report- ed as gas. s/s vaux. 600 Cal. 105, fifty percent of which were gas foll in FLEURY and vicinity, 100 Cal. 77 and 65 Cal. 150 reported on back areas, Total shells on entire sector: 1540 of various caliber. VI. ENEMY MOVEMENT. Visibility poor. No mevement of importance observed. VII. ENEMY WORKS. Nore reported. VIII. ENEMY AERONAUTICS. From 11:20h to 11:30h, one plane dropped propaganda on our lines, and at 10:30h, one patrol of six planes flew southeast, over our lines. IX. MISCELLANEOUS. Sounds of trains moving in rear of en emy lines o oposite s/s DERAMEE heard during entire night. X. ACTIVITY OF OUR OWN TROOPS. s/s BOUEE. Two patrols. s/s DERAMEE. Two patrols. s/s TAVANNES.
