WEEKLY REPORTS OF EQUIPMENT.\nOwing to the fact that many Supply Officers have mis-\ninterpreted the meaning of paragraph II, Bulletin No. 16, Januar\n18th, 1919, Headquarters 35th Division, the following instructi\nwith reference to shortage of Ordnance equipment will be observed.\n\"Regimental and Separate Organization Supply Officers\nwill continue to send in the weekly reports to the Division\nOrdnance Officer but they will not send in reports of shortages\nto the 9th Corps.\"\nII. INSTRUMENTATION OF BANDS.\n1. The following letter from the Adjutant General, G.H.Q.,\nAmerican E.F., January 17, 1919, is published for the information\nand guidance of all concerned:\n\"l. General Orders No. 183, October 21, 1918, these\nHeadquarters, define the instrumentation of regimontal bands as\nfollows:\nC flute\n1\nD-b flute (2 flutes for one man)\n1\nPiccolo\n1\nOboes\n2\nE-b clarionet\nTRUMAN\n1\nNATIONAL\nB-b clarinnets\n10\nARCHIVES AND\nLIBRARY\nE-b alto clarionets\nRECORDS\n2\nSERVICE\"\nB--b Bass clarionets\n2\nGOVERNMENT\nBassoons\n2\nE-b alto saxophone\n1\nB-b tenor saxophone\n1\nE-b beritone saxophone\n1\nFrench horns (altos for mounted bands)\n4\nB-b trumpets\n4\nB-b cornets\n2\nB-b beritone (small diameter)\n1\nEuphonium (4 valves)\n1\nB-b trombones (valaves or slide)\n3\nF trombone ( valve or slide)\n1\nE-b basses (4 valves)\n2\nBB-b basses (belicon)\n2\nContra-bass sarrusophone\n1\nShare drum (and triangle)\n1\nBass darum and symbals\n1\n(over)\nTotal instrumentation, 47 as authorized.\nThe following additional instruments will be\nissued in lieu of bassoons and oboes, which are\nnot suitable for marching purposes:\nSoprano saxophones (in lieu of oboes)\n2\nSnare drum (in lieu of bassoons)\n1\n\"2. In view of the fact that many bands being short of\ncertain instruments have certain others in excess of the regulati\nnumber, and in order to supply replacement for newly organized or\nincomplete bands, you are directed to supply all regimental comman\ners with a copy of above instrumentation and to issue the necessar\norders that all bandsmen in excess of prescribed instrumentation\nbe sent at once with their instruments to the Musicians Replacement\nDepot, Gondrecourt, Meuse.\n(seave)\n43. Duplicate lists of transfer will be sent to G-1, these\nHeadquerters.\nBy Command of General PERSHING:\nJ. M. WOOLFOLK\n(Ad.Bul.#19,2nd Army, 1-21-19)\nAdjutent General.\"\nRegimental Commanders will submit to these Headquarters\nthe names of bandsmen in excess of the prescribed instrumentation.\nIf there be none such that fact will be reported.\nIII.
