-3- 396 CHAPTER IV FLAN OF EMPLOYMENT OF THE WHOLE OF THE TROOPS OF THE DEFENCE: (a) Mission: To acoure the integrity of the positions of resist- ance by echeloning of the troops of the defende. Arrangement of troops for defence. Regiments placed side by side (square shaped division.) Units Covering position Second Remarks and ponition of Position Resistance 3d R.I.O. 2 Battalions (1) 1 Batt.(a) (1) These battalions occupy the C.R. of the covering position and of the position of resistance. They are echeloned in depth having on an averaga 1/3 of their strength in the covering zone and 3/3 on the position of resistance (including the reserves of C.R. and gub-seotor) The o.n. (machine gun companté of these battalions are in the game conditions echeloned in depth in the sone of watoh and resistan- ce, flanking P.T.O. 5thR.I.0. a Battalione (1) 1 Batt.(a) Most especially the spurs of the Cotes de Meuse by low flanking fires (a)These Battaliona usually in reserve are stationed in the nei- 6thR.I.C. a Battalions (1) 1 Batt. (2) ghborhood of O.R. of the 2d posit- ion which they should occupy in case of alert TOTAL 6 Battations (XXX 3 Batt. (a) Organization of command and delimination of the subsector & C.R. The sector of Sommedieue is divided into three subsectore of regts. The subgector BOUFE held by the 6 R.I.C. The subsector of DERAMFE held by the 5th R.I.C. ARCHIVES 3. 'NATIONAL RECORDS AND The subsector TAVANNES held by the ad R.I.C. is The organization of the subsector is the following one Sub Sector BOUEE Etc Etc (See Fronoh text.)
