Presence of 18th Regiment, 3rd Bavarian Division in front of our sector
confirmed by identifications from comporal who was killed in front of s/s
boueE, G.C.A, MANHEULLES.

ENEMY INFANTRY.
No activity, except "usual intermittent machine gun fire through secter
during period.

ENEMY
s/s BOURE. Artillery activity normal. 10 sholls on HONT sur les
cords, 10 shells on BONZEN, 10 shells on MENSIL, and 20 shells on HAUDIOMONT
throughout period. Total shells on s/s, 30 Cal. 150 and 20 Cal. 105's.
s/s DERAMEE. Activity normal. 35 shells en RONVAUX and intermittant
shelling on back areas of sector. Total shells on s/s. 140 Cal. 77 and 48
snells caliber unknown.
s/s TAVANNES. Increase in activity. 15 Cal. 77 on CULAINVILLI,
so Cal. 77, 101 Cal. 105 on: BIX and vicinity, including the roads on ridge
immediately north of BIX, 36 Cal. 105 in vicinity of dalloup, 100 Cal. 105
on FORT de VAUX, shelling of various caliber on our front line in s/s. Total
shells reported en s/s: 104 Cal. 77, 401 Cal. 105 and 100 Cal. 150.
Total shells on entire sector: 272 Cal. 77, 500 Cal. 105, 130 Cal. 150.
Reports from our observation posts indicate that the en emy is bringing
more artillery into sector.

Visibility poor. No movement observed.

ENEMY WORKS.
Sounds indi cating construction work heard from the vicinity of BRAQUIS.
Impossible to ascertain nature of work.

ENEMY AERONAUTICS,
Increase in activity. Seven single planes and one patrol of five
planes report ed ov er cur secter dur ing period.
Three enemy balloons vicinity of WARCQ and St. GEORGES
FMIL reperted active during periodo
IX.
At 5:45h an enemy patrol appeared in front of G.C.2, LANHEULLES, s/s
BOURE. Our men opened fire killing one non-commissioned officer and forcing
the patrol to withdraw. The body of the officer "was brought
into our lines and identifications secured.
Unusual number of flares from vicinity of ORANVILLE Woods.
