I thank you for sending me copies of the citations of the
attached thereto.
officers and enlisted men of the 35th Division and.the data
This morning I am in receipt likewise of the memoranduin from
Ma, io r Thurston announcing the award of the Medal of Honor to Captain
Skinker, 138th Infantry, and your emorandum of December 23rd to the
officers and enlisted men in reference to Christmas.
We are engaged in preparing a history. of the participation
of the 35th Division in the war with biograrhy sketch of the officers
and enlisted men, and in collecting for preservation in the archives
of the state all data, etc. 9 bearing v.pon the service of the Division.
Later it is proposed to publish this data in appropriate volumos.
I am sure you will be in hezrty accord with this undertaking and will
be grateful if you will furnish us from time to time any information,
copios of orders memorandums, etc., which in your judgement should
be preserved by the State.
I need not tell you that the people of Missouri'are intense-
Iy proud of the megnificent record made by the Division, I
gave
wide
publicity in the State to your splendid tribute to the officers and
nen serving under you and the same wi 11, of course, appear in the
published records, etc., we are preparing here.
With assurance of my high regard and again expressing the
appreciation of the State authorities,
