Chet Huntley Television Program re:
The British System
This morning I received a telephone call
from Mr. Palmer Adams, Riverton, N.J. Mr. Adams
was very concerned and adamant about the
television program of Chet Huntley about the
British System which had been broadcast the
previous evening.
He was extremely upset about what he termed the
shhool class which Huntley had conducted in how
to become an addict; the making out of the
addict as a hero and the apparent innocuousness of
narcotics addiction.
He spoke most complimentary of the work of the
Bureau and how this sort of program must set us back
many years.
Mr. Adams stated that he was going to write
to you and the Attorney General of his reaction
and repugnance.
