This affiant, C. C. Chiles, having been first
duly sworn on his oath states that Alexander Chiles, who is said to have
owned the Northwest qr. of the Southeast qr. of Sec. 31, Twp. 51, Range
30, Jackson County, Missouri, wasings uncle; \that he does not remember
his uncle as far back as but from the best of his information and
belief his said uncle was not married at that time; that he afterwards
married a Miss Rice; that his uncle Alexander Chiles and his wife died
loss
many years ago. Affiant further states that he knew Benjamin Ham-
bright who is said to have owned the land above described; that from
affiant's best knowledge and belief said Benjamin Hambright was never
married; that he left Jackson County a single man and affiant after
learned that he died in the West.
