The Centers also had primary responsibility for the diverse range of nation-wide and sector information programs designed to maintain public awareness of the national productivity drive. The staffs organized and oriented the Productivity Teams sent to the U.S. and other countries and they also arranged for the publication and dissemination of the formal Team reports and subsequent interplant visits of team members. They coordinated requests for U.S. and foreign experts. Finally, the Centers were the focus for initiating, administering, and arranging throughout all sectors, training institutes, and educational institutions, a wide range of productivity seminars, training courses, and conferences. 61. To remedy the lack in many Western European and Pacific Rim nations of centralized documentation sources to aid technology transfer, the Productivity Centers became a large repository both for technical information and publications relating to the visitation experience of the Productivity Teams; and for the wide range of reports and statistical data from supporting external technical aid services. The latter included reference materials; training curricula; professional and trade journals; audio-visual libraries; technical inquiry documentation; productivity statistical reports; and other external technical assistance services which generated documentation relating to productivity. 39
