(A. Greeting)
1. Thank you very much. This is a wonderful valley --
The drive has been beautiful. It's a fine time of the year to come
to Connecticut.
2. But I guess you know I'm not here just to look at the
scenery -- beautiful as it is. I'm here campaigning for the Democratic
ticket.
(B. Local Candidates)
1. You have a very fine group of Democrats running for office
here. I hope you will vote for all of them.
2. For Senator: Bill Benton. He's one of the hardest fighters
in America for your interests. He always works for what is right, and he
never dodges a tough question.
3. For Senator: Abe Ribicoff. It will take a real man -- a
fellow with a big heart and a big understanding of this whole world -- to
fill the shoes of Brien McMahon. But Abe has shown by his fine, constructive
record in Congress, that he is the best qualified man for the place.
4. For Congress: John McGuire. He's the kind of fellow who really
represents your interests.
