(1) Ur WAR 84427 and WAR 84428. Our C 56772 represents
KMAG info to 1500, except for 3 late items.
First item: (State Ser 928) fm Muccio quoting text of
memorandum of conversation with Pres Rhee this date. This
Muccio radio has been passed to your Hq.
Second Item: And unc nfirmed report that 20 (20) North
Korean vessels, utilizing Russian type fighter aircraft cover,
attempted a landing at 251530 in Pohang (1235-1455) area.
Third item: Kimpo airport (972-1651) was attacked by
hostile fighter-bombers at 2517351 and at 2514451; results
reported in ARMA 24. We remain in constant touch with MKAG and
Embassy. We accept pattern of simultaneous enemy penetration
of 38th parallel by possibly 3 div spearheading south. Western
sector Ongjin peninsula to Imjin river vulnerable salient and
relinquishment by South Korean Forces, previously decided in
defense plan, and does not represent vital loss. Probable main
defensive line identified by the fol points: Tongjin (954-1664),
Tono-Ri (983-1685), Tongduchon-Nin (1005-1689) Chunchon
(1070-1683), Sangnam-Nin (1120-1680), Kangnung (1183-1667).
This line covers main corridors of enemy advance into south.
Friendly forces disposed as fol: First Div (880-1690 to 998-
1690), 7th Div (998-1690 to 1050-1690), 6th Div (1050-1690
to 1135-1690) 8th Div (1135-1690) to East Coast.
(2) Present actions probable meeting engagement with no
decision reportable at this time. Enemy effort serious in
strength and strategic intent and in undisguised act of war
subj to United Nations censure. Current situation too obscure
