L EUR USDEL introduced today in ECOSOC following resolution on FE financing: OLIV CIA "The Economic and Social Council, ARMY AIR "Considering that the most reliable cost estimates availa- NAVY ble at this time indicate that approximately 250 million DCL dollars will be required for the operation of the United DCR Nations programme for the relief and rehabilitation of Korea for the 12 months' period ending 31 December 1951, Recommends that, in the light of the military situation in Korea, these estimates be kept under review by the General Assembly; and "Recommends further that the methods of financing the proposed programme of relief and rehabilitation be deter- mined by the General Assembly. Belgian delegation offered amendment to US resolution as follows: "(Unofficial translation) substitute the following for the first two paragraphs of the draft resolution: "Having taken note of the report of the temporary committee, which states that according to the figures which were pre- sented to it, it would be necessary to provide for a program costing approximately 250 million dollars, extending over a period beginning January 1, 1951 and into the beginning of 1952, Recommends to the General Assembly that it examine the estimates found in the report of the temporary committee charged with the development of the provisional program for assistance and rehabilitation in Korea.
