1. The Situation in Korea
with Respect to & Truce
Mr. Hickerson commented upon the truce negotiations in Korea
in so for as these negotiations were pertinent to the program of
UNKRA. An exchange of views between Mr. Hickerson and Mr. Kingsley
indicated that each had in mind as a tentative, planing assumption
the possibility of UNKRA assuming full responsibility for relief
and rehabilitation in Korea at a time beginning six months after
the negotiation of a truce. Mr. Kingsley added that perhaps it
would be a time from six to nine months after a truce; and he indi-
cated that he had found a similar view in some informal converse-
tions with "brass hats".
