Scott Foreign Office has just informed Embassy of receipt of
Foreign Minister Chou En-lai called in Indian Ambassador
telegram dated October 3-from Peiping stating that on October 3
Panikkar and informed him that if UN Armed Forces crossed
38th parallel China would send troops across frontier
participate in defense North Korea. He said this action
would not take place if only South Koreans crossed parallel.
