FILE RPT to AMEMB Pusan for Muccio. 599 In order to provide clearer background and remove any possibility anxieties or diversion resulting from confused political maneuverings in UN on KOR issue, suggest you personally discuss with MacArthur, and Muccio with Ridgeway, FOL: Despite any appearances to contrary resulting from current debates in UN on questions relating CHI COMMIE intervention KOR, US GOVT not (RPT not) in any sense abandoning full support basic objectives UN in KOR nor relaxing determination carry out to full MIL responsibilities devolving upon it as Unified Command. GOVT has no (RPT no) disposition compromise with COMMIES nor withdraw MIL forces from KOR until mission completed or clearly forced out by superior force and will continue to exert its influence upon members in the UN to adhere to that course. At instance other friendly DELs, USDEL delayed intro- duction RES condemning CHI COMMIE aggression in order to provide opportunity for them satisfy selves that all avenues of honorable settlement KOR problem had been exhausted.
