Q: That would be enough.
Q: No drinks, no whiskey?
MR. ROSS: Cocktails before lunch.
Q: What were they, Charlie? Martinis?
MR. ROSS: Oh, anything one wanted - martinis, old-fashioneds--
scotch and soda burbon and soda.
Q: What did the President have and what did the Prime
Minister have, sir?
MR. ROSS: I think I will have to guess. Last time I saw
the Prime Minister take a drink he took an old-fashioned cocktail.
I would assume he did the same thing this time. The President took
the same. You don't want the arrangement at the lunch, then?
Q: No, this is all that is necessary.
MR. ROSS: I have a little piece I will read to you:
The President and the Prime Minister held their second
meeting this afternoon on board the WILLIAMSBURG. They resumed their
discussion of the situation in Korea and the steps to be taken to meet
it. There will be a further meeting of the President and the Prime
Minister at 11.30 tomorrow, Wednesday morning, at the White House.
Q: Charlie, can you comment on the story from London --
Q: (interposing) Are you through?
MR. ROSS: I am through.
Q: Excuse me - can you comment on the story from London
that they agreed to a re-invasion of Korea?
MR. ROSS: There is no truth in that. It was not mentioned.
No.
Q: Say that again, sir?
MR. ROSS: Let me withdraw that and say this? It has already
been denied . accurately denied it was denied in the same story
that carried the big headline.
Q: Anyhow you are denying it here?
MR. ROSS: I deny it here, yes.
Q: What reinvasion?
MR. ROSS: You will see it in the headlines. Parenthetical
denial of it within the story.
Q: Is it still the intention, Charlie, that the United
Nations should hold in Korea?
MR. ROSS: I have no comment. I can't add anything to the
statement that I have read.
