OCR Page 1 of 2THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
June 13, 1951
Dear Ethel;
I am enclosing you a Financial Report received
from the Commissioner of Revenue, Frankfort,
Kentucky.
You will find on Page 34 that our great grandfather
paid his taxes in 1806. I wrote this fellow and told
him that I was very sure if he would search he would
find that all our grandparents paid taxes in Kentucky
between the time of this Report and 1842.
I am also attaching a letter which I have received
from a "Calhoun Democrat." The Calhouns were
eliminated by the war between the States and I don't
know how one could remain alive today. Old John,
you know, believed in nullification and a lot of other
things that the war referred to settled. I thought you
would be interested in seeing a communication of this
kind.
TRUNNA
Sincerely yours,
