N'MATIONAL ARCHIVES AND RECORDS SERVICE CABINET MEETING, TUESDAY, DECEMBER 19, 1950 Webb for State Steelman absent THE PRESIDENT Asked Webb to fill in on European Conference - Acheson - Bevin - Schuman. WEBB Meeting this afternoon will discuss German participation in West- ern Europe Defense and will discuss Soviet proposal to have meeting with Foreign Ministers. THE PRESIDENT Said Acheson has been SO far very successful in Foreign Ministers meeting at Brussels. MARSHALL FBI has done a good job on Anna Rosenberg investigation. Present situation as compared with 1942 is much more favorable but the selective nature of present procurement will require more diplomacy, tact and judgment in contractual relations of Defense officials with private in- dustry. P. M. G. Mail is moving in good shape following the end of the R. R. strike. TOBIN His worry about press last week has evaporated into thin air. Press seems to have had change. VICE PRES Passed Yugoslavia conference report on loan in Senate this morning. Sen George hopes that House will accept Senate amendments as Tax Bill. If SO hopes to get bill thru this week. Appropriations Bill should be out of the way this week. Pres. wrote letter to V. P. on need for ex- tension of war powers. Ran into some difficulty with respect to re- organization of certain administrative functions.
