COL CURTIS
Briefed Cabinet on Korea.
THE PRESIDENT
Asked V. P. to brief Cabinet on program for Gen MacArthur in
Congress next Thursday.
V. P.
The House will probably vote to invite MacArthur to appear before
Congress. The Senate will concur. He will be given every courtesy
and consideration. Armed Svc Committee has also invited Mac to appear
before committee. The activities of Joe Martin and Wherry have caused
great bitterness by injecting politics into the occasion.
THE PRESIDENT
Had to put pressure on Rayburn and McCormack to go along with reso-
lution to invite MacArthur.
MARSHALL
President has directed Gen Collins to provide Honor Guards and
troops for San Francisco, Washington and New York. Asked for approval
to invite Army commanders who served with MacArthur to come to Washing-
ton reception.
THE PRESIDENT
Approved.
MARSHALL
Is to be 1st witness before Armed Service Committee on the Mac-
Arthur case. Asked for suggestions as to testimony.
