HOME ADDRESS
NEWBERRY, S. C.
January 17, 1950
Mr. Daniel Francis Clancy
Box 322
Springfield, Ohio
Dear Mr. Clancy:
Your letter to Honorable Bruce Littlejohn,
dated January 9, has been referred to me: I succeeded
Mr. Littlejohn as Speaker of the House last May upon
his election to the Bench. There is pending on the
House Calendar Joint Resolution No. 1028, introduced
by Mr. G. W. Bryan, of Sumter, S. C., proposing rati-
fication of the twenty-second amendment. This reso-
lution was introduced last year with a divided report
from the Judiciary Committee and was continued until
the present session. Present indications are that it
will not be reached for debate for some weeks.
You requested the names of the party leaders
of both Houses. As you perhaps did not realize, the
entire membership of the Senate and House of Repre-
sentatives in South Carolina is Democratic and, there-
fore, there are no party leaders as such.
Very truly yours,
Thouas Hope
Thomas H. Pope
