Regarding:
Memorandum for the President stating the Chairman of the Ad Hoc Commission
on Prisoners of War has invited this Government to send a representative to confer with
the Commission during its Third Session which will convene at Geneva August 25, 1952.
Recommends that Mrs. Eugenie Anderson, American Ambassador to Denmark, be appointed
to serve concurrently as the United States Representative at the forthcoming session.
-8/20/52 the President wrote to Hon. Eugenie Anderson (My dear Madam Ambassador)
appointing her United States Representative to the Third Session of the Ad Hoc Commission.
8/20/52 Mr. Hopkins sent copy of President's letter to Amb. Anderson, for the files
of the Department of State.

Hon. Euganie Anderson wrote the President, 9/8/52, thanking him for appoint-
ing her as U. S. Representative to the Third Session of the Ad Hoc Commission on
Prisoners of War. Said it was an honor and a pleasure to represent our country at these
important sessions and sincerely hopes that they were able to contribute something toward
the solution of this tragio human problem.
