SILK LINEN Lloyds COTTON WOOLEN Importers PETTICOAT LANE AT WALNUT KANSAS CITY MISSOURI Oct. 2,1945 President Trueman, c/o White House, Washington, D. C. TRUMAN NATIONAL ARCHIVES AND RECORDS SERVICE Dear Harry COVERNAENT I am enclosing a clipping from Sunday's Star. This is a wonderful thing that you are doing, and the God that you and I learned about in Sunday School will strengthen your hand for your effort. It has been destined that the Jews shall return to their "Promised Land". But this will not be done until we who are here on earth make an effort to help our fellow men. Then is when we will experience the "Fatherhood of God and the Brotherhood of Men". There are millions, both Jew and Gentile, who will praise you for this. Harry: keep in mind, you are the first commoner to sit in the White House since Abraham Lincoln. He freed the Negro and it is within your power to put in motion a spirit and a force that will free the oppressed of the world. We are more than happy to know you and call you neighbor, and to see how well every opportunity as it comes. y you are ussig Most sincere 204 misc JNO. M. LLOYD 204 PP72 P.S. I am sending this letter to Mrs. Trueman so that I could be sure you would get it, and have a chance to think it over at leisure away from your office. lag nirever Independener Mo
