    "ocrText": "mean that, when someone asks you, \"Can you get all the medical care\nIF YOU ARE A HOUSEWIFE-\nyou and your family really need? ?\" you could answer with confidence and\nYou'd Like to Be Able to Stick to a Budget-But\nrelief, \"Yes, under national health insurance I can.\"\nYou know that a serious illness will knock any budget into\nOUTLINES FOR YOUR AUDIENCES\na cocked hat.\nFor All Americans-regardless of race, color or creed\nYou may be able to budget your rent, clothing and food for\nYou and your family want the best medical care.\nthe year, but there's just no telling when illness will strike or\nwhat it will cost.\nYou'd like to be free from the fear of crippling doctor and hos-\nYou may have spent little or nothing on medical care last\npital bills.\nyear but suddenly be faced with an illness costing you $1,000\nBut, if you are a typical American, you certainly don't want\nin a few weeks Such has happened to many families. It has\n\"socialized medicine.\" Nor do you want a hand-out, a medical dole.\nresulted in complete impoverishment.\nYou want to pay your own way and-\nYou may be lucky and escape serious illness BUT MAYBE-\nChoose your own doctor, see him at his office, your home or\nJohnny looks thin-\nthe hospital. You want to be able to change doctors when you\nMary gets too many colds-needs her tonsils removed-\nplease.\nYou have a constant cough-\nYou want\nYour husband is so tired he doesn't even want to go to the\nYour family physician.\nmovies or listen to the radio after dinner-\nSpecialist services when needed.\nYou know that medical advice-and perhaps, attention-is required\nSurgery.\nbut-maybe it will be an awful expense and you don't want to\nMaternity care.\nTHIS IS COM-\nuse up your savings or borrow. If your husband gets sick, he\nLaboratory services, X-rays, appli-\nPREHENSIVE\ndoesn't want to quit work and see a doctor because it costs too\nances, eyeglasses.\nCARE.\nmuch. If it's a long illness, his wages or salary may stop too.\nNursing care.\nAll these things can happen to you. They mean worry, heartache,\nExpensive drugs and medicines.\nand possibly tragedy.\nPreventive medical care.\nYet, you are Mrs. America-a good citizen, a conscientious wife and a\nresponsible mother-YOU'RE ENTITLED TO HAVE THE BEST\nYou can have all this and AT A COST YOU CAN AFFORD TO\nTHAT AMERICAN MEDICINE CAN PROVIDE. AND YOU\nPAY through NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE.\nCAN HAVE IT, TOO. Not as \"free medicine,\" nor charity medi-\nEasy on your budget\ncine, but as your right and at a price you can afford to pay.\nYou would pay a small percentage of your earnings just as\nUnder National Health Insurance-\nyou now do for other social security protection. As an em-\nYou could take your children to a doctor, or he would come\nployee, the most you would pay is $1.40 a week. When your\nto your home, whenever necessary ;\nfamily needs medical care, you would get the doctor or hos-\npital of your own choice just as now.\nIf an operation or specialists' care is needed, you'd have\nthem-the best available and you wouldn't be worried about cost.\nNo interference with your doctor\nIf hospital care is needed, you'd have it-and the bill would\nYour doctor will remain a private practitioner and collect\nfrom the local health insurance fund full payment for the\ngo to the insurance fund. The same for laboratory services,\nservices he gives you. He can decide for himself how he\nX-ray, expensive medicine, etc.\nwants to be paid. He does not become a federal employee.\nAt a Small Fixed Cost-Not Fear of Staggering Bills!\nHe need not participate in the National Health Insurance plan\nBy this simple method you and your children would have\nif he doesn't want to. Like you, he has freedom to choose.\nthe best medical attention that money and American medical talent\nA few people may even decide that though they have paid\ninto the insurance fund, they prefer to go to non-participating\ncan provide-the best in the world.\ndoctors and pay them directly.
