My dear Dr. Hancock:
Your letter of June twenty-oighth to
the President has been received and I am indeed
sorry to send you a disappointing reply in con-
nection with your request for an interview. How-
ever, because of the heavy demands upon the
President's time during these difficult and busy
days, we have been obliged to limit his appoint-
mente to those of a strictly urgent official
nature. I feel confident that you will under-
stand the situation.
