On 5/9/49 Mr. Campbell wrote Gen. Vaughan saying he notes that the House on May 5 passed HR 4080; Gouncil is made up of civilian personnell Would like to be considered for appointment. Says he has talked to Caskie Collet and Cap Leifira, each of whom has encouraged hin. On 5/13/49 General Vaughan wrote Mr. Campbell saying he will be glad to do what he can to help him get appointed. Has asked Arny legislative officer to advise him whon Bill passes in Senate and will in turn notify hin. On 5/16/49 Mr. Campbell wrote Gen. Vaughan thanking him for his le ter.
