Dear Mr. President:
May I express to you my personal and
deep appreciation for your thoughtful and statesman-
like act in signing Bill S. 614 which amended the
census act so that "where the doctrine, teaching,
or discipline of any religious denomination or
church prohibits the disclosure of information
relative to membership, such information shall not
be required. "
What a privilege is ours to be Americans
where freedom of worship is an established fact and which
will always be guarded under the alertness of such
leadership as yours. Your signature to the bill was
a
response to a heartfelt desire of multitudes who wish to
be obedient to their highest sense of organized religious
activity.
With every sincere good wish and deepest
gratitude,
Cordially yours,
Arthur Perrow
