    "ocrText": "OF\nTHE ERIOR\nUNITED STATES\nDEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR\nTHE WHITE HOUSE\nOFFICE OF THE SECRETARY\nAPR 28 1950\nWASHINGTON\nAPR 29 8 33 AM '50\nRECEIVED\nMy dear Mr. President:\nOn March 15, 1950, the Business Council of the Three\nAffiliated Tribes of the Fort Berthold Reservation, North Dakota,\nadopted a resolution setting forth, among other things, that of\nthe 991 adult members of the said Tribes eligible to vote for the\nacceptance of the provisions of Public Law 437, Eighty-first\nCongress, First Session, 525 had, on March 5, 1950, voted accept-\nance of the Act.\nThe official votes, accompanied by a certified copy of\nthe resolution of the Tribal Business Council, and the original\ncertificate of R. W. Quinn, Superintendent of the Fort Berthold\nIndian Agency, Elbowoods, North Dakota, substantiating the above\nnumber of enrolled adult members of the said Tribes, and of the\nnumber of affirmative votes cast by the adult members, have been\nfiled with me as evidence of the acceptance of the Act by the mem-\nbers of the said Three Affiliated Tribes.\nPublic Law 437 provides that sums totalling $12,605,625\nshall be placed to the credit of the Tribes in the Treasury of the\nUnited States, as provided for therein, and shall draw interest at\nthe rate of four per centum per annum from the date of the accept-\nance, March 5, 1950, until disbursed.\nPursuant to a request contained in section 9 of the Tribal\nResolution, I enclose a copy of that Resolution. There is also\nenclosed a copy of the Superintendent's Certificate and of a state-\nment made on March 16, 1950, by Carl Whitman, JI., Chairman of the\nTribal Business Council, at the time he turned the votes over to me.\nx\nI am sending copies of these documents to those officials designated\nin section 9 of the Resolution.\nSincerely yours,\nOscar Secretary of the Shapping Interior HAIRY GOVERNMENT REDUCES\nThe President\nThe White House\nEnclosures (3)"
