Dear Mr Steelman:
Fred Wile has referred your valuable letter on settlement
of the steel strike to the Newsroom, and we appreciate your comment very
much.
I am sorry one of our Washington men fell into the error
you mention. In explanation, I can only say that this is an extremely
complex subject, as you know better than anyone else, and he seems to have
oversimplified the matter in the brief time allotted to him during the
convention coverage.
I have called your letter to the attention of those who
are likely to be dealing with this subject in the future, so that the error
will not be repeated.
