My dear Miss Child:
The President has received your letter
of October twelfth and appreciates your interest
in writing. He asks me to advise you that on Oc-
tober seventeenth he returned S. 1407 to the
Senate without his approval.
I am sending you the enclosed copy of
the President's veto message for your ready refer-
ence.
