My dear Miss Falvey:
I am indeed sorry that we cannot do
as you ask in your letter to the President.
He is so busy these days with the many urgent
official matters which confront him that it
is not possible for him to take the time to
respond to the innumerable requests for his
autograph. Because he has had to regretfully
H
refuse in so many other instances, I feel sure
you will realize how difficult it would be to
make an exception.
Very sincerely yours,
MATTHEW J. CONNELLY
Secretary to the President
Miss Mary Ellen Falvey,
393 Saville Road
Mineola, Long Island,
New York.
