Dear Mrs. Douglas:
Your letter of October 28 with reference to the problems
of migratory farm workers raises several questions concerning
complex areas in our national economy.

The Department of Labor is currently exploring the feasi-
bility of recommending the establishment of a Presidential
Commission to investigate the problems of agricultural labor,
and I am sure that in caze such a Commission is established

the problens of adequate income to which you specifically re-
fer would be one of the basic matters for its consideration.
Please be assured that I deeply realize the fact that
meyican agricultural workers present a special problem in our economic
pattern and that I shall continue my efforts to alleviate the
difficulties of this important group of the American people.
