HARRY 3 NATIONALD TRUMAN LIBERTY
U.S.
MEMORANDUM FOR THE HONORABLE DAVID K. NILES:
I have talked with Bob Carr and Peyton Ford.
I would suggest that you call C.E. Wilson and invite him
to testify with the Attorney General on Tuesday, Wednesday or
Thursday of next week.
Carr has offered to prepare a statement for Wilson and,
at Peyton Ford's suggestion, Spingarn is ready to send Carr
Justice's analysis of the Omnibus Bill.
If Wilson agrees, then, after a date has been fixed,
you could suggest to him that Tobias and Jim Carey would be good
persons to appear with him.
I should not think that either Carey or Tobias would
especially want help in preparing their testimony, but, if they
do, I think Carr would be willing to help out.
For this purpose, it might be a good idea to ask Carr
to be in town and available on the day selected.
For Carr at least, if not for Tobias or Wilson, the
question of travel reimbursement would come up. Perhaps we should
offer reimbursement to the others as a matter of courtesy.
I do not know whether Luckman would be available or not.
He did not come in with the Fahy Committee.
