SUBJECT: Minutes of the meeting of the full Committee,
Thursday, April 3, 1947.
HARRY U.S. ARCHIVES TRUMAN *NATIONAL GOVERNMENT RECORDS AND LIBRARY
The Committee met at the Conference Room in the East Wing
of the White House at 10 A.M., Thursday, April 3, with the
following members present: Chairman Wilson, Mr. Carey, Mr. Dickey,
Rabbi Gittelsohn, Mr. Luckman, Mr. Matthews, Mr. Shishkin, Mrs.
Tilly and Dr. Tobias.
The Committee devoted the hour from 10 to 11 A.M. to a
business session.
(1) Mr. Matthews reported for Subcommittee No. 1 and stated that
since he was the only member of the subcommittee in attendance at
the two-day session no further progress had been made by this sub-
committee. Mr. Luckman reported for Subcommittee No. 2 and stated
that his committee had had two valuable sessions on April 2 and
would be prepared to make a rather detailed report on April 17.
Mrs. Tilly reported for Subcommittee No. 3 and stated that due to
Mr. Ernst's continuing illness and Mr. Roosevelt's absence, Sub-
committee No. 3 has had a difficult time in making much progress.
The subcommittee however plans to have a two-day session on April
15 and 16, and hopes to be able to make a more formal report en
April 17.
(2) Mr. Carr raised the problem of a press release. He stated
that newspaper men seem anxious to know what the Committee is doing
and he recommended that the Committee authorize the issuance of 8
statement giving the names of the witnesses who have appeared before
