Sen. Barkley - if they can get his consent they will be ready to go ahead with the bill.
Suggested that any answer to the Governor be delayed until they can work it out. - attached

from Sen. George D. Aiken, 9/24/85, stating that he hasn't found the slightest indication
that Pres, Truman contemplates federalizing the power to be developed in connection
with
the St. Lawrence Seaway or any indication that another TVA is planned for the St.
Lawrence
area. Stated that with full e ooperation between Gov. Dewey and President Truman the
Seaway
development can be approved at this session of Congress with full recognition given
to the rights of New York State. - attached are two office notes, dated 9;24/45, re calls
