1 \ Albert A. Ridge DISTRICT JUDGE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT WESTERN DISTRICT OF MISSOURI KANSAS CITY 6 April 17, 1945 P. 5 pitt The President The White House Washington, D. C. My dear Mr. President: Your address to Congress was spiritful and an inspiration to the whole country. After your talk to the GI's tonight I predict they will be willing to follow you as their Commander-in-Chief, as the members of *D" Battery were ready to follow you as their Captain after your courageous speech the night of the shirt tail parade at Coetquidon. We of the Battery then first learned that the humility, which our Captain manifested, was not conceived of timidity but KCT7600 was the fortification of a courage and ability that made him a natural leader. This knowledge then gave us the faith that we all had in you as our Captain, and now have in you as our Commander-in- Chief. It will do likewise to all those in the armed services, after they hear your message to them. The mammoth burdens that have been placed upon you make me feel wholly inadequate to inform you that I have received my com- mission as United States District Judge, and have now assumed my new duties. You know that I am most grateful to you for this honor that has been conferred upon me. You are responsible for the attainment of my highest ambition. Peggy's and my earnest prayer is that God's kind benediction be constantly with you. FORVICTORY and Sincerely yours BUY UNITED ALBERT A.
