Africa, Maj. Gen.Sir John Kennedy, Gov. and Commander in Chief of Southern Rhodesia.- The
President, Feb. 7th, sent condolences to Lord Freyber Gov. Gen. of New Zealand.
Mr. Hassett, Feb. 7th, Feb. 8th,Feb.9th and Feb. llth, sent memorandums - Attention: Mr.
Simmons - for files of the State Department transmitting the following: Message of apprec-
iation to the President from Gov. Gen. of Ceylon, Chief Justice Rinfret, Maj. Gen. Sir John
Kennedy, Gov. Gen. McKell, Dr. E. G. Jansen,Gov. Gen. Freyberg,Dr. Rajendra Prasad,His Ex-
cellency, Ghulam Mohammed. Mr. Hassett sent copies of the above messages and the originals
were kept in Whi te House Files.--Memo. to Mrs. Bonsteel from "pmh" State Dep t. under date
of Feb. 13 as follows: "Attached are copies of the telegrams which were sent by
the
Presi-

the

of
state
of
the
Commonwealth
countries
on
the
death
of
