Serving as a guard of honor to the President in the Inaugural parade and having breakfast with him as his guest at the Mayflower Hotel the morning of the parade will be (Name of any man in a locality who was a member of Battery D, 129th Field Artillery.) He is one of approximately 100 former members of the field artillery unit commanded in France in World War I by the then Captain Harry S. Truman, Battery D, 129th Field Artillery, 35th Div. Paying their own expense, as many members of the Battery D association as can walk, are journeying to Washington Inaugural Week to participate in several functions at the invitation of the President. In addition to the breakfast and the guard of honor function in the parade, which will be restricted to Battery D members, other events to which they have been invited are the Inaugural Ball, the Inaugural reception and a cocktail party at which Secretary of the Treasury John W. Snyder will be host. Most of the D Battery men, including some with wives and other relatives, will leave Kansas City the night of January 17 on special Pullmans. Those coming from the West will join the party at Kansas City. Others will be taken aboard at St. Louis and other points to the East. The delegation will reach Washington the morning of Jan. 19 and the return trip will be started the night of Jan. 21.
