THE GLORIOUS STORY of the UNITED LUBAVITCHER YESHIVOTH "An inspiring chapter in American Jewish Life" by Rabbi S. Gourary Chairman, Executive Committee United Lubavitcher Yeshivoth It is indeed a most inspiring and glorious chapter that the UNITED LUBAVITCHER YESHIVOTH have written in the history of the Jews of America. Jewish life in this country has been considerably fortified and strengthened due to the revitalizing influence exerted by our many Yeshivoth throughout this land. This revival of Torah and Traditional Judaism on the American continent can to a very great degree be ascribed to the work done by the many Yeshivoth in our famous network of Jewish Day Schools. The UNITED LUBAVITCHER YESHIVOTH are more than just Jewish Day Schools. In addition to providing a complete and integrated Jewish religious education in all branches, an excellent secular instruction is also imparted in conformity to the requirements of the State and City Education Departments. However, our Yeshivoth have succeeded in inculcating within the minds and hearts of our many students those lofty ethical and spiritual ideals of Jewish self sacrifice for Torah and Judaism that were implanted in the souls of our students by the late world famous Lubavitcher Rabbi of most blessed memory. Our institutions have to their credit eleven years of fruitful activity in the United States since the establishment of the first Lubavitcher Yeshivah in America in 1940 by the late Lubavitcher Rabbi. The National Board of Directors of these institutions are determined to carry on the great work initiated by the world famous Lubavitcher Rabbi, so that these academies will be a living monument to his memory, and be dedicated to the high ideals of Torah to which he devoted his life, Today the UNITED LUBAVITCHER YESHI VOTH are a national institution for the purpose of furthering the cause of Torah and of Judaism all over America and abroad through our many branch Yeshivoth in various cities. The UNITED LUBAVITCHER YESHIVOTH offer a complete Jewish religious education on all levels, starting with the elementary school, continuing through the intermediate and high school, and culminating in the Rabbinical College of the United Lubavitcher Yeshivoth with its authority to confer Rabbinical Ordination known as "Smichah". This Rabbinical Seminary of the United Lubavitcher Yeshivoth has been granted the authority by the New York State Department of Education to confer Rabbinical Degrees. Graduates of this institution now grace the pulpits of many Jewish congregations throughout America, and also occupy an important position in Jewish life. (over)
