P.P.F. MO CLINTOCK, J. O., Pres. god Board of Trade Chicago Board of Trade 10/5/47 Chicago, Illinois 10/7/47 - Unack. Con C Letter to the President stating that he disapproved of the Pres' radio address of 10/5/47 and states that many others in the grain trade did also. States they were never given the proper opportunity to analyze for him all the facts and circumstances in connection with activities in a large grain exchange. States that he had written a personal letter to the President on July 24th. As evidence of their cooperation, they have quickly acceded to the Pres' request for increasing margins to 33-1/3 percent on grain future transactions. Note: Released to newspapers before mailed. SEE: 34-A Telegram to the President from Mr. J. O. McClintock, dated 2/6/48 (Unack.) stating they feel that the President should know that a special meeting of the Board of Directors of the Chicago Board of Trade will be held next Monday afternoon to consider the widdom ofid expediency of reducing margin requirements on new speculative futures transactions. Requests an opinion from the President for the Board to consider during these delibera- tions.- Original handed to Dr. Steelman.
