be-o1 222 Madison St., Eugene, Ore. October 23, 1945 President Truman, Washington, D.O. P.P.F. Dear Mr. Truman: ConB B I heard your message to Congress this morning concerning military training. I agree with the principals in the message, but you left out a very important point, in fact the most im- portant; compulsory training of men to be HONEST, to carry on such a program. Your years of service as head of the Truman in vestigating committe while in congress must make you keenly aware of the need of such men. And now the investigation of tbur betrayal that gave, us Pearl Harbor. Untill such rotteness is cleared from the foundation of our government by those we have trusted and placed in charge, all talk of peace is hollow mockery and we have no right to ask anything of our youth.
