My dear Sir:
A thought ran through my mind a few days ago concerning the gifts
that I had sent to my friends in the United States. I have so far re-
ceived a few acknowledgments from those who had received them. I have
come to think therefore that perhaps you have not received the "Bok-
jumoni", of which I wrote you in my previous note of 26 November 1953.
May I now explain and apologize at the same time: I mailed some
packages on 24 November 1953 so that they might be received by my dear
friends in America in time for Christmas. But, alas, the great fire in
the port city of Pusan on 27 November 1953 completely destroyed the Pusan
Post Office, and most probably it also consumed the gift I had directed
to you. That is to say, five out of fourteen packages were most probably
destroyed; and among the five was the one I sent to you, which I regret
very much
In a few days, however, I shall attempt to mail it once again. I
do hope that the ship or plane or train will meet no misfortune this time
before you have received the package. Once again may I say that I am ex-
ceedingly sorry for the delay.
With my kindest personal regards, I remain
a NARA
Respectfully yours,
Aliwha thai
